This charming house in Cloth Fair, is the oldest residential property in London. It was built Circa. 1597 It survived The Great Fire of London as it was protected by the walls of St. Bartholomew’s Priory. Dyebrick products were used to blend in the third floor brickwork to match the original brickwork below. The upper areas had been damaged and repaired after sustaining damage during a WWII bombing raid. The repaired and replaced bricks were too light and needed to be stained red before applying our ‘Mild Soot Wash Replication’ product. This stains the bricks darker producing an authentic aged appearance. We were proud to be involved in the restoration of this Grade II* Listed Building which won the prestigious City Heritage Award, presented by ‘The City Heritage Society and the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers’ for the finest example of building refurbishment contributing to the enhancement of the environment of the City of London.
